Super tuber – The (blue) miracle potato

Harvesting and sampling potatoes fresh from the field

Agata and Violetta, Rote Emmalie, Angeliter Tannenzapfen and Linzer Blaue – the potatoes are just as diverse as the names and range from dark purple to light pink, from vibrant red to bright yellow, from slightly nutty to hearty earthy, from fatty to mealy delicate. Heimo Oberrauner in Tresdorf knows all his treasures; he plants many old, almost forgotten varieties on his very special potato field. The Zerza farmer invites his guests to discover those varieties together with him and to accompany him on a tasty tour of digging in the field. If you dig the fine tubers from their earthy bed with your own hands, you will learn many interesting facts about potatoes and you will be rewarded with freshly fried potatoes or a “potato tower“ on a skewer with bacon and cheese. Not to forget, there is also a kilo of mixed potatoes to take home.
