Mühlenweg Maria Luggau

The Valley of a Hundred Mills ... that's what the Lesachtal Valley is still called today. In its heyday, around 200 mills rattled all along the whooshing stream. The farmers used the power of the water not only to grind the grain, but also to power ploughs and lifts, threshing machines and sawmills. Increasing industrialisation caused one mill after another to disappear. But in Maria Luggau there are still five old, well-preserved water mills in which the Lesachtal Valley grain is ground for Lesachtal bread.
