The Matitz bakery from Kötschach-Mauthen at the big Bread Festival in Vienna

The "Kruste & Krume" (Crust & Crumb) Bread Festival, organised under the direction of Barbara van Melle (Slow Food Vienna), took place in the magnificent halls of the Kursalon Hübner music hall and attracted around 8,500 visitors to Austria’s best master bakers. 12 great baker shows on stage and the baguette and cracker bakers of the Gailtal Valley Bäckerei Matitz bakery right in the middle of it all.

At the Slow Food Travel stand, the numerous visitors learned about the journeys to the roots of good taste. More than 1000 Slow Food Travel brochures were sold out in just a few hours. More information about the Bread Festival: www.krusteundkrume.at
